Covid-19 Infection Control

We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of the properties each and every time visitors come to stay at Hudgill Barn Farm Cottages. Due to the current situation with coronavirus and following Government guidelines and Industry Best Practice, we have incorporated additional practices to safeguard our visitors, employees and ourselves.

What we do

  • We have asked guests to arrive one hour later and leave one hour earlier to provide us with additional cleaning time.
  • After the property has been vacated, we disinfect all areas with a fogging machine. These machines are routinely used as part of deep cleaning processes
  • We then thoroughly clean the cottages wearing personal protective equipment (face mask and gloves).
  • We put all cutlery; mugs and a set of crockery through an intensive cycle in the dishwasher before your arrival. It is left for you to unload.
  • We provide fresh pillows at each changeover.
  • High touch items are individually disinfected e.g. light switches, door handles; hand rails; TV remote controls; entrance keys etc.
  • We have removed ‘Nice to have’ additional items which we would not have the time or resource to sanitise in the time available to us e.g. the cushions in the bedrooms, extra pillows, toys and games etc.
  • We have provided a wall mounted dispenser of hand sanitiser and a box of sanitising materials for you to use whilst staying with us. The kit includes:
    • Hard surface disinfectant that can be used after cleaning.
    • J cloths
    • Antibacterial wipes
    • Bags for bagging all used towels, bed linen and kitchen linen at the end of your stay.
    • A complementary bottle of World Health Organisation recommended formula alcohol sanitiser for your use when out and about.

What we ask you to do

With the disinfection performed by us, the likelihood of the cottage harbouring coronavirus is extremely low. To maintain this, we ask that you:

  • Sanitise your hands with the alcohol sanitiser provided every time you enter the cottage.
  • Follow all Government advice, including regularly washing your hands and avoiding touching your face.
  • Wash all utensils and crockery using the dishwasher on the intensive cycle or alternatively, thoroughly wash them in hot, soapy water and dry after use - not just rinse them.
  • Regularly clean and disinfect hard surfaces and high touch areas are using the materials provided. J cloths can be washed and re-used; wipes must be disposed of in the bin, not down the toilet.
  • On the morning of departure, please open bedroom windows for ventilation.
  • Remove bed linen (all the pillow cases, the top fitted sheet and duvet cover) and seal it in the bags provided. Similarly, all used bathroom towels; tea-towels and kitchen gloves

Whilst Out and About,

  • Co-operate with local businesses / visitor attractions in their interpretation of Government Guidelines.
  • Consider wearing a face mask where it isn’t possible to maintain social distancing.

During your stay we ask to be informed immediately should

  • A member of your party experience covid-19 symptoms or
  • They are contacted by the track and trace scheme and asked to self-isolate

Under these circumstances we expect that you would vacate the property to isolate at home in line with Government guidance.

We trust that by carrying out the above, it will give everyone reassurance that their stay at Hudgill Farm, will be a safe one and that they can enjoy a relaxing holiday.

With best wishes,

Diane and Dick

“We were hugely impressed with the investment and effort that the owners of the cottage went to in order to keep safe during the pandemic.”

They had thought out everything- from putting dishes and all cutlery, even if already clean, through dishwasher, ready to unload by ourselves upon arrival; to leaving us a supply of sanitiser and wipes; to carefully decontaminating fully between guests. We had concerns about holidaying during these difficult times, and our minds were put at ease once we realised how seriously the hosts took our safety
